Disasters triggered by natural hazards are becoming more frequent and intense, causing damage to infrastructure loss of life. One way reduce disaster risk is evacuating the hazardous area. However, despite amount literature that exists on evacuation behavior, there still a lack agreement which variables can be used as predictors for individuals (or households) actually evacuate. This related many affect decision, from demographics, geographic, hazard itself, also local or cultural differences may influence evacuation. Hence, it essential analyze understand these based specifics case study. study aims find most significant island Sint Maarten, using data collected after caused Hurricane Irma in September 2017. The results suggest gender, homeownership, percentage property damage, quality information, number storeys house, vulnerability index influencing decisions island. We believe this paper offer clear view managers important order increase rates Maarten plan efficiently future evacuations.
